ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Through a grant from the Bezos Earth Fund as part of its Greening America’s Cities initiative, GreenLatinos will distribute $1,050,000 in grants to support urban greening, gardening, and farming projects in Albuquerque. GreenLatinos and Bezos Earth Fund seek to award projects at a stage where plans have been developed, rights have been granted, and the work can begin. These awards will range from $150,000 to $500,000.
Grant applications will be accepted beginning March 29, 2024, through April 28, 2024. GreenLatinos will seek to award funds to nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status or with a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)(3) status, federally recognized Indian tribes, or tribes organized under Section 17 of the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934.

“Hispanic/Latino/e communities suffer from environmental impacts disproportionately high level, have less access to green spaces, and receive less funding to mitigate those inequalities. GreenLatinos, Bezos Earth Fund, and the Greening American Cities Initiative will close that gap in our city while improving the quality of life for everyone in Albuquerque .”
